I am super excited to announce the changes Earth Mama will be undergoing in the new year. After over 10 years of running Earth Mama I am selling the practice to the lovely Jennifer Lunceford. Jennifer has been working for Earth Mama on and off since its creation in 2007 and when I started contemplating about letting my business go, Jennifer was the first person that came to mind. I was thrilled when she was just as excited as I was about the hand off. She has been taking most of the clients for the last two years so not much will change from the outside. She will take over ownership and managing the practice in early January. I will be around for a bit helping with the transition and I will still be offering massage to pregnant and postpartum folks in the Portland area.
A lot has changed since 2007 and the start of Earth Mama. I have witnessed many births as a doula, I went to and completed midwifery school and started a midwifery practice (a practice that saw 37 babies come to the world in 2017!), my massage practice grew into the busy practice it is today, I got married and I became a mother. Although doula work has been a big part of my life for the last 10 years and served me really well, I feel like it is time to step away and focus on the things I am more passionate about. Midwifery care and massage. I have put my heart and soul into growing Earth Mama I am so excited to know the practice will be in the best of hands and that the business will live on.
So what's next for me. Well, focusing on my midwifery practice will take up most of my time. If you are considering a home birth please check out my midwifery group, Birth, Babies and Beyond. I will be continuing to give massages at the same location with a focus on the childbearing year as well as working with clients experiencing grief or loss. I also offer deep tissue massage using Ashiatsu. My massage practice is getting a fancy new face and will be called Moon Phase Massage. The website will be up in the next few weeks so keep an eye out. I also imagine I won't stay away from doula work completely, so if you are a repeat client don't hesitate to ask!
Thank you all to the wonderful families that have allowed me to bare witness to your births. I will remember each and everyone of you and am so grateful to have been able to be there for the beautiful and hard times, the joyous and the sad. Thank you for letting me peek into your precious life and share such sacred moments with you. Thank you to Jennifer who I know will do a stellar job running the practice and will continue to serve the community in a way I feel good about. She has attended close to 300 births and is also a massage therapist!
Also just a shout out to Bria Caldera. She helped co-create Earth Mama in 2007 and with out her I am not sure if the business would had even got off the ground!
