After much research and time spent with other parents, it became obvious to me that having a doula is a key element to a positive and beautiful birth experience. I then found Angela and am SO grateful I did! She was my doula for two very different birth experiences at Good Sam. Largely thanks to Angela, a potentially scary birth where I was induced due to preeclampsia concerns was a truly amazing experience. I never felt the need to be medicated during 30+ hours of labor thanks to Angela’s help in finding me comfortable positions and knowing exactly where to apply pressure during contractions. I felt supported and confident in a consistent, calm, and nurturing environment. One of the points where is was obvious how key Angela was when I suddenly became aware that the back rubs were no longer helping with my contractions and realized my husband was trying his best to fill in for Angela when she had to run out for a few minutes! My second birth went unbelievably fast. I wasn’t sure I was in it yet when I called Angela and she asked me to go to the hospital immediately. 30 minutes later my baby girl was born! Even though I didn’t really need a doula the second time, I was grateful for the comfort it gave me to know she was there in case things had gone differently. As a gentle force in the room, as an advocate, as a hand pushing on the exact right pressure point at the exact right time, and as a friend. Thank you Angela for helping start my life as a parent in the most warm-hearted and beautiful way possible. I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
A note from Angela-
Testimonials are always so lovely to receive, and this one warmed my hear so much (and made me shed a few happy tears) I love, love, love working with clients for more then one birth, and what an honor to be invited back! It is so fun to reconnect with a family, as sometimes after the last postpartum visit we rarely see each other! It is so cool to see how their baby has grown and to watch them step into the big brother or sister role. Thanks for your kind words and choosing to work with me not once, but twice!
